Parents Guild
Dear Saddle River Day School Families,
On behalf of the Parents Guild, whether you are a new family or a returning one, welcome to SRDS!
As we enter the new school year in the midst of an ongoing pandemic, our first intention is to send the SRDS community our sincerest wishes that you are all safe, healthy and happy. For all who have lost loved ones during this difficult time, please accept our deepest condolences. We are a caring association, and each member should know that they can always find support and friendship here. We are all in this together.
While facing the unusual challenges of this time, we will continue to contribute patience, understanding and compassion to our community. We know that we will be following more rules and experiencing more inconveniences than in previous years – a small price to pay for the health and scholarship of our children. Our teachers, administrators, faculty and staff are all working tirelessly to create safe and highly educational experiences for our children and we all cannot thank them enough!
The adaptations that the Parents Guild has to make are fluid and may change as conditions do. As in the past, our PG meetings will be held on the first Thursday of every month, the first one being Thursday, September 3rd at 9:00 am outside on the SRDS grounds with the option to attend virtually. Join us to learn about volunteer opportunities, school happenings and special events. Homecoming will be on Saturday, October 10th, noon-4:00pm. This outdoor celebration is a great way for the entire family to join our community in a social setting. Also, instead of canceling, we are excited to announce that our traditional “Ladies’ Night Out” will be transformed into “Ladies’ Night In” this year. Even though we won’t physically be together, it will be a fantastic virtual night of fun, friendship and philanthropy held on November 5th to raise money to fund enriching programs for our children and the SRDS community. Grandparents & Special Friends Day will also look very different this year as we will be showing our loved ones how distance learning works at SRDS by having them experience some virtual classes from the safety of their own homes. A date will be on the calendar soon and we will keep you posted on the plans for this beloved event. As for other Parents Guild activities, from traditional ones (such as Love & Kindness Day and Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day) to new programs, we will plan them to occur in the format that conditions allow. Whatever the challenges, the Parents Guild will always be here to support the school and each other with the goal of enriching our children/s educational experiences.
As parents and guardians of SRDS students, you are automatically a member of our Parents Guild and we would love your support in any way possible. From attending our meetings and fundraisers, to volunteering, to simply providing positive emotional support, any amount of help, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated! Participating in any of these ways provides a wonderful opportunity to meet new people, have fun and strengthen our school as a whole.
So, we hope you will join us in whatever way you can to help us foster the love and commitment that we share for all SRDS children and the entire school community.
Have a safe and fun last few weeks of summer, and we look forward to seeing you in September.
Sincerely,
Amy Sneyers and Joni Pasenchuk
