Performing Arts Grant Program
We are excited to announce a new opportunity for talented students in the performing arts! Interested students and families are invited to schedule a campus tour to learn more about all the amazing opportunities available to our students. This audition and grants program in the performing arts is for students applying for grades 9-12.

Who are the auditions for?
Students applying for Grades 9-12 who are studying the following:
- Voice/Musical Theater
- Woodwinds: Flute (Piccolo), Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, English Horn, Saxophone
- Brass: Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba
- Strings: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass
- Percussion: Symphony Percussion (Mallet, Snare, Timpani, Drumset, and others combined)
- Piano
What is the timeline?
Students and families should attend a fall open house (register here). Auditions will be held in January. Admissions applications are due by January 15, and decisions will be released the second week of February.
What will students need to prepare?
Instrumental: Two contrasting pieces (each piece should be at least 1-5 minutes long). Sight reading (8 Measures). (1) Major and (1) Natural Minor Scale - 1 Octave - Selected at Random
Vocal: 2 Contrasting pieces (each piece should be at least 1-5 minutes long), Vocal range work with Mr. Capa (nothing to prepare for this), if auditioning for musical theatre, please also prepare a monologue of your choice (1-5 minutes) to perform.
What are the requirements for the grants program?
To maintain the performing arts grant, students must be in good academic standing and remain in the performing arts program for the duration of the student's time at SRDS:
Instrumental
- Band and/or orchestra enrollment
- Two recital performances (winter and spring)
- Music Theory Classes
- Weekly lessons outside of school (with private or SRDS instructor)
- Participation in county/state/regional music educator competitions
Vocal
- Four years in chorus
- Four years in vocal master class
- Winter musical theatre production
- Weekly lessons outside of school (with private or SRDS instructor)
