Middle School Students Participate in Social Action Program

AFYA is a medical supply recovery organization that collects much needed surplus medical supplies from hospitals in the United States and ships them to doctors and hospitals working in the midst of natural disaster, war, and poverty. Since its inception in late 2007, AFYA has shipped several hundred 40-foot containers packed with recovered humanitarian and medical supplies to more than seventy countries globally. Most recently, AFYA has provided medical supplies following the hurricane in Puerto Rico. The students helped to sort, inventory and pack supplies that will be shipped to AFYA partners around the world. Information about the foundation can be found at https://afyafoundation.org. 

The mission statement at SRDS states: We inspire each child to achieve personal and academic excellence and to become a caring and ethical contributor to society.  Experiences such as this enable our students to understand the importance of becoming caring and ethical citizens.
